#Pregnancy : My Pregnancy-Safe Skincare Routine

My skin was terrible for the first two trimesters (especially the first trimester). No pregnancy glow whatsoever haha [though N kept saying my skin glows, God bless him].

What makes it worst was that I had to say goodbye to some of my favourite skincare products for the time being due to its ingredients. And oh! Saying goodbye to my (facial) laser session too.

Some of the ingredients to avoid as a pregnant woman :
  • Salicylic Acid
  • Vitamin A / Retinol
  • Chemical Sunscreen

What's in My Pregnancy-Safe Skincare Routine?
[using 'routine' loosely here since sometimes I'm too tired to do everything 😆]

Cleanser
  • Cleansing Oil: Hada Labo Premium / Tatcha Pure Camellia -- Only when I applied makeup
  • Cleanser: Fresh Soy Face Cleanser / Cerave Hydrating Facial Cleanser
  • Foreo Luna 3
  • I used the products interchangeably as I'm trying to finish the pile of products at home 😝

Toner and Essence
  • I used Pixi Glow Tonic and MISSHA Time Revolution Toner on alternate nights as Pixi is an exfoliating toner
  • On days that I used Pixi Glow Tonic, I'll use Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair
  • On other days, I either used The Ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% or Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate Solution 20% in Vitamin F

Moisturizer
  • Light Moisturizer : COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence / Hada Labo Premium Hydrating Lotion /  Hada Labo Alpha Hydrating Lotion. Take note that the snail mucin is extremely sticky and it will take a while before you can put on another layer of products
  • Heavy Moisturizer : Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream / Cerave Moisturizing Lotion
  • Lips : Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask
  • Eyes : Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye
  • Finally, Laneige Water Sleeping Mask (Love this!!)

Others
  • 1-2 times a week I'll use the face mask that I've refrigerated (so refreshing!)
  • I also used Body Shop's Chinese Ginseng Rice Mask / Himalayan Charcoal Mask on a weekly basis
  • When I feel like it, I'll slather some Sunday Riley CEO Glow. I felt it takes a while to absorb, so I don't use it too often.
  • And oh! In the morning, I used Anessa sunscreen.

But let's be real. These steps can be a handful. On nights I don't feel like doing the full routine, I'll just use the cleanser, toner, COSRX snail mucin, Laneige sleeping mask and the lip sleeping mask.

All About Stretch Marks
Not to forget this category. I was free from stretch marks up to my 4th or 5th month of pregnancy if I recall correctly. These are the products that I've used and I've seen improvements (I think). So feel free to try them too!

I used Palmer's at first but I really don't like the smell and the texture. It takes a while to absorb so I only used it at night. Then after I finished off the small bottle, I immediately switch to the cult favourite, Bio-Oil.

The smell of Bio-Oil I can still tolerate 😂 and N helps to lather it every night as I really don't like the texture of the oil. I can see improvements, though. So I kept using it. During the day, I used Mustela Stretch Mark cream. I also brought it to the office to re-apply. It absorbs fast and I love it!

If you know me, you'd know that I love to buy new skincare products and trying them out. So at the moment, I'm trying to finish off what I can (and what I can safely use) before repurchasing anything. I would love to use fewer products. Fingers crossed, next year I'll have a solid and less complex skincare routine. Hahaha

Toodles!!
