Polar Replacement Watch Strap in Malaysia

I've bought Polar FT7 a few years back. It's a fitness tracker that will monitor your heartbeat, calories burned etc

It has been kept in a box for a good 2 years before I'm all fat now and decided to get back in shape.

Ladies and gentleman, after 4 years, the watch strap finally gave up on me and crumbled.
I mean, literally CRUMBLED.

I know it has been stored for so long - my mom's theory 'anything you kept for so long, will be damaged; be it shoes, handbags' appears to be true once again.

I've sent the watch to a few shops and I always got back the same answer. I need to sent it back to the authorized store *sigh*

Apparently, Polar authorized store at Jaya One has been closed for a few years now and the next closest store would be in Singapore.

A store in Australia sell those straps for 20 AUD but they only delivers locally. Urghhh..

Options at the Australian store. The black and red one looks soooo nice!

At last, I found a local store that would take in the watch and get em fixed for RM300. Are you crazy? Might as well buy a new watch with that price tag. I bought the watch for RM400+ if I'm not mistaken.

So I went to the next best thing, China counterfeit products. LOL. You see, the crucial part of the watch are the watch itself (the strap is interchangeable) and the heart rate transmitter. The watch strap is not as important 😂

Transmitter
So I went to Lazada, and found some China made watch strap that would be suitable with my Polar model.

Guess how much I paid?
RM20, including shipping fees all the way from China!

Say whaaaaaaaat.

Simple black silicone strap. They don't have the stripes like the original straps and they are less sturdy; a little bit flimsy but I'm happy with it!

Now I can use my polar!

Planning to get FitBit next!

For the Memory [Bandung]

I won't write an extensive review on my trip to Bandung. Just a simple memento for me to reflect in the future ❤

I realized I never properly thanked Nazli for allowing me to go to Bandung with Ika; without him. That's a very amazing thing to do (in my opinion) because I can't say that I'll allow him to go have fun without me! 👱

Our first agenda, the Trans Studio, an indoor theme park. We spent a good few hours there. A little tip though, just queue for the roller coaster when you got in because we missed the chance since it was raining later in the day (half outdoor roller coaster).  We screamed out hearts out at the rumah hantu, too!

Mie Ayam
One of the reason I kept visiting Indonesia; the food. Especially the noodles!

Farmhouse
The next day, we had the supir to bring us around.

Tangkuban Perahu
We definitely ate a lot at the Floating Market. This is just the appetizer. LOL

Nearly skipped Kampung Daun because of the negative review I read. Some people said that they overcharged and the service was slow. But for me, the place was amazing! I don't mind paying extra for the view and ambiance. The food was good. It felt like we were eating in a well-maintained woodland with waterfall, gazebo and all.

What's Bandung without a visit to the ever famous Kartika Sari? Bought a LOT of brownies. The staff will packed em in boxes for you.  They don't have samples tho. So you just need to trust your instinct when buying or just asked them for the bestsellers. Hahaha

The outlets are scattered across Bandung but there's none at the airport. Take note!

Personally though, I prefer Amanda's steamed brownies.

My favorite purchase at Pasar Baru. I bought this fineeeeee piece at D'Fashion Textile & Tailor. If I'm not mistaken it was Rp400,000 per meter. Bidang 60 okay. So cheap compared to Jakel 😔

Also loveeee this kebaya with sarong 💓

Sim Card
Upon arrival, we asked the information counter for places to buy sim card. She pointed us towards the money changer across the street. They were selling SimPATI sim card [which is the best they said] for IDR150,000 which I felt a tad expensive. So we went to Yomart behind the building and got the exact same simcard for IDR50,000+.

Supir or Grab
We only opted for a one day service from Hayukka Bandoeng. Our Supir fetch us at 8am and sent us back at 9pm. For 13 hours of service, we were only charged IDR390,000 (not including entrance fee, meal and parking fees). I would recommend contracting supir for your relatively far journey. Other than that, it would be cheaper to use Grab.

Spa
I love Indonesian spa. It's soooo cheap. We went for a spa package at Everyday Balinese Spa. We paid Rp250,000 for a 2 1/2 hours treatment. Body massage, body scrub and all.

Definitely would love to visit Bandung again in a few years!

#MakanReview : Dahmakan (Food Delivery Service)

Dahmakan is a food-delivery business; different from FoodPanda as they prepare the food themselves. You can order the meals via website or phone apps.

I had ordered 6 meals from Dahmakan and I think that warrants a full and honest review.
I paid RM109 for these 6 meals [RM28 discount]

You can buy them one by one but I bought the Prime package where you can buy 5, 20 or 50 meals at a discounted price.

I'm gonna comment on EACH of the meals I had. Brace yourself.

Mushroom stuffed chicken breast with tomato pasta
The chicken was good! The sauce was tasty, al dente pasta. I'm not too fussy about the type of pasta they use though. Expected spaghetti but penne was just as good. What I don't like was the vegetables. I'm a littttleeeee bit fussy about vegetable. What can I say, I expect to have EXACTLY what I saw in the pictures. But that was me, being too picky.

The meal was delivered warm, one hour and 15 minutes late. I got RM5 credited into my Dahmakan account as compensation (they sent an email without you needing to complaint).

Rating : 4.5/5

Baked fish casserole with buttered brown rice
When I first got it, I was a little bit skeptical. To be fair, they use different photo on the website a few days earlier. Had I known it looked like this, I would not have ordered. But I'm glad I did because it was good! I thought I was eating lasagna. Healthier version, of course. Healthy serving of fish inside.
Again, I got the food one hour past the delivery window. Another RM5 was credited into my account.

Rating : 4.5/5

Blackened perch with mushroom fried rice

I have to say, I was very excited for this meal because it looked soooo good on the website. The mushroom rice was bland. Worst of all was the fish. There's a fine line between blackened and burnt. Apparently, I got a burnt fish. It was bitter and to make it worst, it was salty too. Salty to the point that I can't eat it. I thought I was the only one who got the salty fish but it turns out a friend also had the same experience.

I got another RM5 for late delivery.

Rating : 1/5

Herb crusted salmon with chunky mash potato and lemon sauce

It was during a public holiday, so the food was delivered to my house; on time. However, it was cold. *confused*

I expected the skin of the salmon to be crispy but it was very mushy instead. The salmon cut was big *yeay* and I like the mashed potato. Cukup rasa.

Rating : 3.5/5

Thai red fish curry with lychee and baby corn
I have to praise them for getting the taste right for the Thai red fish curry. It was really good that I finished everything. However, I was dismayed by the fact that there was very little fish chunks in the curry. And for the fourth time, I got my food an hour 30 minutes later.

I've read that they use a route algorithm to determine the most efficient way to deliver the food and I suspect Wisma Sime Darby was right at the end of the route. Seeing that my food was delivered late every single time!

Rating : 3.5/5

Jamaican jerk chicken thigh with chicken rice
My final meal with Dahmakan and they were late as usual. [That just cemented my decision to not ever buy from them ever again] FYI, I sent an email complaining and haven't gotten any reply.

Thankfully, the food was tasty! I love the marinate on the chicken and the sauce was tangy/spicy.

Rating : 4/5

My overall summary for Dahmakan;

The Good
  • they automatically send an email with RM5 credited into your account when the food were delivered late
  • the delivery charge is free (or rather already included in the meal price)
  • they offer Prime package which would make it a tad less expensive to order from them
  • zero MSG, healthy meal

Things to Improve
  • the consistency. One day the food is great; portion and taste. The other day, not so much
  • courtesy of the customer care staff
  • to include the nutrition information especially for those who watch their macro intake
  • to widen the delivery area to outside Klang Valley (though I read they are not planning to, seeing the huge market in Klang Valley)

So that's my two cents. I'm not condemning Dahmakan. Just saying that they have a lot to improve.
Some of the food are REALLY good.

But I'm turned off by the service.
