#MakanReview : Neighbor's Coffee Bar, Sri Petaling

The sole reason we came here was for its fuwa-fuwa pancake. Had it once in Fukuoka and kinda looking forward to eat it again. The cafe has a fresh vibe to it with the white/natural colored interior.

From it's Facebook
There are 3 options for the souffle pancake aka fuwa fuwa pancake; Original (RM18), with seasonal fruits (RM22) and with soft serve (RM23). We chose the side of seasonal fruits.

As the pancakes are made to order, it took about 30 minutes of waiting time before this beauty was ready. One, it's not as jiggly as I expected (which meant it was a bit dense and not as airy as the the one we had in Japan). Two, the Chantilly cream tasted great, I usually scrape off the cream but not in this case. Three, the strawberry was a tad too sour which kinda a deal breaker.

All in all, I rate this 2.5/5. Acceptable, but I don't see myself coming here again 😎

#MakanReview : Dayang Sarawak Corner Cafe, Putrajaya

There are 5 branches of Dayang Sarawak that I know of; Sg Besi (food court), KL Sentral (food court), Putrajaya, Setapak and Ampang. We visited the Putrajaya branch last Sunday. The place was quite big, with a lot of seats still, it was packed! We have high hopes, after reading all the reviews. The service is quite fast considering how packed the place was. Packing was a bit tricky, though. We ordered mee kolok, laksa Sarawak and ABC.

Mee Kolok Campur, RM8.00
Since we couldn't decide between chicken and beef, we took the mixed mee kolok. Admittedly, they charge a little bit on the high side for a small bowl. tho you can opt for the upsize version at RM10.00. Frankly speaking, I'm not a fan. Will skip this the next time we visited.

Laksa Sarawak, RM8.00
Their Laksa Sarawak fare better with me. Again, the portion is a bit small. I would say, the taste is okay as I've had a rather mind-blowing experience with Laksa Sarawak at Restoran Raff, Labuan. [They had the best Laksa Sarawak!! I've blogged about it here].

ABC, RM5.50
All in all, I foresee that I'll visit them again to try their other top rated dish such as mee jawa, nasi kukus and chicken wing.

#MakanReview : Canton Village, Bukit Beruntong

Before I start, let me share this first. I came here because I once saw a glowing recommendation on internet, can't remember where but this place has been in my 'to try' list ever since. So below are some of the other reviews I've found.

We visited the place last weekend. It was EMPTY without a single soul in sight 😂

Parking can a be a little tricky, be warned.

We ordered the famed signature duck egg char kuey tiaw, duck rice and chee cheong fun.

Chee Cheong Fun, RM7.90

So, the chee cheong fun served here is basically half a packet of raw kuey tiaw, drizzled with sauce, sesame seed, fried shallot and pickled chilies. That's it! It was so ABSURD!!!

Duck Rice (Add RM3 for drumstick) - RM16.90 & Signature Duck Egg Char Kuey Tiaw RM11.90

The duck rice. Where should I begin? The roasted duck itself was moist, succulent. But that's about it. Everything else was terrible. The rice reeks of ginger. It was too much. The soup, was very very bland. Like tap water with some oil in it. 😒

Next, the char kuey tiaw. We both agreed that it was a tad too salty. It had a nice wok smell to it but frankly speaking, it was nothing to shout about. I had better char kuey tiaw elsewhere.

And this ladies and gentlemen is why you should not believe all the reviews you read online 😜

Overall rating : 1/5 (just for the roasted duck)

MBA UiTM : 3rd Semester Pulse Check

So we've juuuuust completed our first module of the semester, Operations Management. I kid you not. We were barely able to breathe!! As soon as we were finished with the final presentation, it felt like a huge rock has been lifted 😵 Such a demanding semester thus far.

There are 4 subjects for this semester;
  • Operations Management
  • Managerial Finance
  • IT Management; and
  • Applied Business Proposal

The research proposal is to be produced by the end of the semester and Alhamdulillah we've got the supervisor we were aiming for.

Tuition fees for the semester is RM5,315.

Anxious for the next subject, managerial finance. Previously, more than half of the class taking this subject failed. Gonna put more effort, definitely.

Till next time!
