Personality Test [MBTI]

It's always fun to take online personality tests. But I somehow doubt the truth in it especially those quizzes by Buzzfeed. Like how can you tell when I'm gonna be married by the desserts I chose? 😒

Nevertheless, personality tests are an interesting tool to know more about one's self.

During a training last month, we had the opportunity to sit for the MBTI [Myer Briggs Personality Test]. And not those tacky incomplete online quizzes but the actual sheet for MBTI test (which cost RM100+ a pop).

There are 93 simple questions which have no right or wrong answers so just feel free to be yourself while answering them.

To ensure accuracy, the trainer shared that one must not envision him/herself at home or at work while answering the questions because we tend to react differently in different environment. Rather, imagine yourself in the position of power so that you won't be restricted in the choices you make..

Some of the questions

Basically, the test will determine what your preferences are in these dichotomies;

  • Interaction with the world
  • Absorption of information
  • Decision making
  • Organization
It is quite easy to understand because for each of the aspects, you either belonged in the first group or the second.

So here's the cheat sheet to better understand MBTI;

Eg for interaction with the world, you are either introvert or extrovert.
You can't be both. Same goes to the other aspects.
So after going through all 93 questions and tallying up the numbers, you'll know which 4 groups you belong to. It will be one of these 16 combinations;

If you're an 'I' it does not mean that you don't have a strain of Extrovert in you.
You just take the dominant score as your final preference.

In my case, my combinations are

ISTJ 💓
What I found amusing was that how extreme I am in every one of those dichotomies.

I'm an extreme introvert; no surprise there.
Basically all feedback session from YK days to Sime Darby people would say that I'm quiet. But actually, I talk a lot. Ask Nazli. Or Peaja. Or Ika.

Yes, I sometimes (always) turn the other way if I see a person I know approaching.
And yes, sometimes I don't answer the phone because I don't feel like engaging with another human being at that exact moment.

But I do have friends. I do hang out.

If I'm being brutally honest
This made me laugh hard!

My MBTI results are pretty much what I'm expecting.

I also came across this infographic;

I guess I should be an Accountant after all 😆

#MakanReview : Franco [Nu Sentral]

And I'm not even kidding. Just look at the official photo by Franco ;

How can you say no to that? I've long heard about this famous french toast.

But I always thought; how good can it be?

Will it be worth 20 bucks for a french toast?

Turns out the answer is yes! Thousand times yes!

One the menu it said 'This is an absolute must have! Don't ask questions, just order!'

20 minutes later, this magical french toast was ready.

RM17.80

The bread were ah-ma-zing! [There were 10 of them]. Super tender goodness, my mind was confused whether or not these were actually bread!

Dusted with icing sugar, served with a scoop of whipped cream and maple syrup.

I never had a French Toast this good.
Definitely would recommend this to everyone!

Rating : 5/5

On a side note, I also tried the Chocolate Souffle.

RM20.80

Souffle also takes around 20 minutes to be served. It was good as well. Not so chocolaty that you felt like eating cheap chocolate but it has a finesse to it, an elegant feeling.

It was rich, decadent.
 Needless to say, we quickly gobbled this one down too.

Rating : 4.5/5

#HotelReview - Shari-La Island Resort, Pulau Perhentian

  The Location
Rating : 5/5
Shari-La is located in Perhentian Kecil island, just beside the main jetty. So you don't have to heave your bags around [plus the countless drinking water bottles I would suggest you to bring]. The pathway to Long Island is also nearby.

Can you see the resort on the left?

The Food
Rating : 5/5
We opted for the full board package this time as the food around the island can be quite pricey and quite tedious to find (read: have to walk). For the 3 days 2 nights we were there, we had breakfast, lunch, tea break, dinner and BBQ.

Breakfast
You'll be spoilt for choice at the breakfast buffet.
Omelette, roti canai, dim sum, nasi lemak, fried noodles, pancake, cereals, bread, fruits and many more.

The buffet spread was tasty!

The Room
Rating : 4/5
I would have rate them 5 if not for the incident on our last day. At around 5am, there was a power outage and we were left to fan ourselves in the heat. After Subuh azaan, we peaked outside and apparently only our chalet was affected. Nazli went to the reception counter and it was rectified short after.

Other than that, the room was very comfortable.
AC, fan, TV with movie channels, mini fridge, hot shower, sofa inside and outside of the room, clean toilet, 24 hour electricity

The Scenery and Architecture
Rating : 5/5
The resort is at the edge of the island, thus giving you excellent scenery everywhere you look. The building architecture is beautiful, too. They have swimming pools for kids and a lot of man-made waterfall to add to the ambiance.

Price (Affordability)
Rating : 4/5
The resort is by no means a high end resort and the price is still quite affordable. Back in 2013, I paid RM250 for a 3D2N free and easy package.

For this time around, we paid RM440 per person for a Full Board package. We liaised with Sealife to get RM50 discount [ShariLa offered RM490].

We definitely had fun in Perhentian ❤

K-Beauty Cleansers

Most of the time I try to avoid from hoarding too much skincare products, but my oh my is that difficult or what.

I usually shop from Hermo because they always have promotions and sales for Korean beauty product. When I first started to delve myself into K-Beauty world, I was so confused with the terminology, the 10 steps skincare routine and whatnot.

So I bought this book from Kinokuniya;

This helps my understanding a lot!

The core of Korean skincare routine is the double cleanse. And that is what I'm gonna share today.

When I first started, I try those cleansers that were recommended by Youtubers and beauty blogger. What I quickly learnt is that ; what's good for someone else may not be the best for your skin.

So double cleansing is exactly what it sounds like. You wash your face twice. First with a cleansing oil then with a face wash. It ensures that your skin is free from all the dirt and make up that will clogged your pores and induce acne / skin problems. It also claims to reduce your aging process.

Banila Co Clean it Zero - RM69 (Hermo)

For the first step, I use Banila's Clean It Zero. Staple product for K-Beauty beginners. It is a solid balm that will transform into oil texture once massage onto the dry skin. Then I usually sprinkle some water onto my face and continue massaging my skin and the oil will become milk-like. Last step, rinse.

Pros
Lovely scent, a little goes a long way, remove most of the makeup, does not sting the eyes, gentle ingredient

Cons
Does not work on waterproof mascara (traces left behind), not hygienic due to the packaging, you need to wash your face thoroughly to not leave any residue of the product

Will I repurchase?
Yes! In fact I'm finishing my second tub

Rating : 5/5

SUM:37 Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick - RM110 (iHerb)

One of the most hyped cleansers in Korea a few years back. I spent days contemplating on this particular purchase because of its price tag. Miracle Rose comes in a stick, almost deodorant-like. They use actual fermented rose petals and it smells good!! It also is pH friendly (we need low pH cleanser for our skin). This lasted 4 months for me.

Pros
Lovely scent, low pH, travel friendly, easy to use - just massage on your face directly, gentle on your skin

Cons
Pricey, messy after use with water and rose petals at the rim, the soap soften and easily damaged after a while (think of bar soap), might cause breakouts, not hygienic

Will I repurchase?
No. I have found better cleansers at a third of its price.

Rating : 3.5/5

Cosrx Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser - RM39 (Hermo)

This brand is my favorite. Plain, almost clinical aesthetics but the products are always great. To be honest, I hate it at first because it's quite hard to lather on my face with the gel consistency. Until I saw a review online suggesting mixing em with water to get that rich foamy texture. Then I really love it!

Pros
Low pH, cheap, huge tube, hygienic, gentle (not stripping and no tightness afterwards),

Cons
Smell like tea tree (some might hate it)

Will I repurchase?
Maybe.

Rating : 3.8/5

Neogen Real Fresh Foam Cleanser - RM62 (Hermo)

From one pump

This product has four variations; green tea, cranberry, blueberry and cereals. I tried the green tea cleanser. The most interesting part is the bottom of the bottle. Can you see the actual leaves in them? I also love the foamy texture.

Pros
Natural ingredients (many of the them are fermented plants/ fruit extract), neutral pH, rich and foamy

Cons
I've read that you don't actually benefit from the actual tea leaves at the bottom of the bottle and it was just all gimmick, expires 8 months after first opened due to the fermented leaves (it will long be finished anyway), may sting the eyes

Will I repurchase?
Yes. Will try the cranberry version next.

Rating : 4.5/5

For me the top three features that I look for in a good is cleanser are;

1. Actually cleanse leftover makeup and dirt
2. Low pH - Separate post on this later
3. Gentle [no tightness afterwards]

[a friendly advice - NEVER EVER use lemon juice / baking soda on your face. EVER!!]
