Recipe : Masak Lemak Cili Padi

I stumbled across the recipe on Facebook, tried it and I swear it's better than some of the masak lemak cili api I had in restaurants! And it's super simple too!

  • 15-20 bird's eye chilli (cili padi)
  • 2 lemongrass
  • 1 inch of turmeric (kunyit hidup)
  • 6-8 pieces of chicken
  • Tumeric Leaf (daun kunyit)
  • Coconut milk
  • Tamarind slice (asam keping)

  1. Blend the chillies and turmeric.
  2. Put the chicken in a pot with the lemongrass
  3. Add in the blended chillies and turmeric, keep the heat low
  4. Keep stirring the chicken to avoid it being burnt
  5. Cook until the chicken is halfway done
  6. Add in coconut milk (I use 1 small box of KARA coconut milk)
  7. Shred few turmeric leaves and add it in
  8. Add water to your desire (whether you want it to be soupy or thick broth)
  9. Keep the heat low. Add in tamarind slice
  10. Add salt to taste and wait until the chicken is cooked all the way through.
